World of Tanks, the free-to-play first-person shooter MMO, is currently hosting a special in-game event to honor the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. The commemoration runs from May 6th through May 13th, offering players unique ways to participate.
Central to the tribute is a new PvE mission titled “Operation Postman.” Players step into the role of an Allied tank commander tasked with a crucial mission: delivering an important message through enemy territory. This involves navigating treacherous minefields, skillfully evading or misleading German patrols, and securing a safe passage to the objective while piloting a specially camouflaged M24 Chaffee light tank. Successfully completing this mission rewards players with a permanent addition of that very M24 Chaffee tank to their garage.
As part of the wider celebration, Wargaming partnered with The Tank Museum in Bovington, UK, for a special livestream which took place on May 10th. Military historian Richard Cutland and museum spokesperson Nik Wyness discussed the historical significance of VE Day and the evolution of armored warfare. Viewers who tuned into the broadcast had the opportunity to earn Twitch Drops and win various in-game rewards.
Players can also benefit from a special boost event running from May 8th through May 12th. During this period, players can enjoy a 5x XP multiplier for their first victory in tanks each day.
With the event running until May 13th, players still have a few days left to undertake the “Operation Postman” mission, potentially earn the exclusive M24 Chaffee tank, and take advantage of the ongoing XP boosts before the commemoration concludes.
